The barbaric splendour: the Lombard treasures Unesco World Heritage Site

The Lombards have left precious memories on Italian territory. The Basilica of San Giovanni Battista represents the spiritual and historical heart of Monza: its foundation was wanted by Queen Teodolinda, who was a great patron of the city. Inside it is kept a treasure of inestimable value and beauty: in addition to the famous Iron Crown it preserves relics, goldsmithery, sculptures, Renaissance tapestries and a splendid 15th century cycle of the Zavattari family dedicated to the Longobard queen.
